The Al Nuaim clan, famous for their courage, boldness, and wisdom, moved to this region from Oman around 1775 and founded the Emirate of Ajman, which is located on the western side of the Joined Bedouin Emirates. In the past, Ajman's economy was based mainly on two important aspects of its trade: fishing and trading. However, the astute Rulers frequently energised other partnered activities like shipbuilding, pearl diving, and trading. The largest dhow building yard in the Emirates, it continues to operate despite being overshadowed by modern enhancements like the sizeable dockyard.
